4L’MENTS STRAP

A leather reinterpretation of the iconic Marine Nationale strap

First, a little history… The Marine Nationale strap was born out of necessity for a simple reliable way to hold a watch onto the wrist of the navy soldiers, linked to Tudor Submariner Snowflake blue dial model.

When delivering the French Navy on late 50s, Tudor was sending only “heads” and not entire watches, so without the strap. Frogmen and members of the Marine Nationale usually found their own way to create straps, in this case made from elastic parachute braid and parachute hardware… the icon was created!

Since then, several strap brands adapted or copied the design, using original hardware and parachute elastic nylon or using non-original materials.

It should be pointed out that, in most of the existing designs, the strap is placed under the watch case, giving an extra thickness to the watch, being able to cause some imbalance in the wrist.

On the other hand, some customers consider that nylon is not a stylish material for their valuable watches.

Given these important details that could be improved, didymoStrapS set to work on a design based on:

Considering these premises, and inspired by the energy of the 4 elements of nature, the 4L’MENTS strap was created…

LEATHER

Water-repellent vegetable-tanned leather from Tuscany, Italy, from one tannery producing perhaps the best water-repelent leather in the world.

Smooth uniform leather, matte finish, firm and resistant to water, abrasion and color fastness.

TESTS CARRIED OUT (SOLIDITY AT THE DROP) – UNI EN ISO 15700-2000.

Handmade waxed thread. Strong and wear resistant, waterproof, not fade. Customizable thread color for any strap.
